2018 Windsormaker Preview

The Draft is over and now that the pairings for the 11th annual Windsormaker have been released, its time to break this bitch down!  The morning matches will determine who will have the advantage going into the afternoon, leaving them in great position to taste some shitty rail whiskey out of the cup at the end of the day!  I am about 98% accurate in my picks over the year so take notes and place your wagers accordingly.   In the spirit of the Zurich classic format this year, I thought it would be fun to pick some walk up songs that reflect the pairings.  Without further ado:

The Match:  Taylor/Rich Lee vs. Buschy/Butt Love
Walk up Songs:
Taylor/Rich Lee:  Billy Joel- Piano Man

Buschy/ Buttlove:   Rod Stewart- Forever Young

Rich and The Piano Man take on the tournaments Senior Citizens.  I’m going with experience in this one.
The Pick- Buschy/Butt Love

The Match:  Eddie/Jake vs. T Schmidt/Stumpf
Walk up Songs:
Eddie/Jake:  Mighty Mouse Theme Song

T Schmidt/ Stumpf:   Eric Church- Smoke a Little Smoke

Seeing a back 9 par fest from Team L’s mighty pairing taking down Team G’s group after they get lost in the woods for a few holes.
The Pick- Eddie/Jake

The Match:  Jivy/Hawkins vs. Burnham/Vance
Walk up Songs:
Jivy/Hawkins:  John Michael Montgomery- I Swear

Burnham/Vance:   ACDC- Back in Black

Two high school sweethearts rekindle their bromance, but a heroic putt by Vance on 18 completes a successful comeback to the Windsormaker.
The Pick-  Burnham/Vance

The Match:  Gerlach/Felmlee vs. Stahl/Schilling
Walk up Songs:
Gerlach/Felmlee:  Madonna- Like a Virgin

Stahl/Schilling:   LMFAO- SHOTS

A savy vet guides a Windsormaker Virgin thru a difficult match up.  Although the Team G pair feeds them shots and makes them ineffective in the second round.
The Pick-  Gerlach/Felmlee

The Match:  McCabe/Mivey vs. Benny/Malloy
Walk up Songs:
McCabe/Mivey:  George Strait- The Fireman

Benny/Malloy:  Billy Joel- We didn't start the fire.

McCabe does all he can to keep Spooner Country Clubs fireman focused, but Team Gs pair are able to get in his head and burn Team Ls pairing to the ground.  Hopefully the fireman can find some comfort in the clubhouse again after the round.
The Pick-  Benny/Malloy

The Match:  Big E/Scotty V vs. Pederson Bros
Walk up Songs:
Big E/ Scotty V:  Johhny Cash- Johnny Yuma

Pederson Bros:  The Hollies:  He aint heavy, He’s my brother

The gunslinger of the Windsormaker, Big E crushes the hearts of another Team G pairing by slingin’ irons and deadly putting.
The Pick-  Big E/Scotty V

The Match:  Davey/Billy vs. BVB/Lunde
Walk up Songs:
Davey/Billy:  David Bowie- Space Oddity

BVB/Lunde:  Green Day- Basket Case

Davey and Billy hop into their spaceship for a voyage around Spooner golf course but Team Gs basket cases are able to get each other out of their own heads in time to sneak out a win, but not after a few dookies are left out in the fairway
The Pick-  BVB/Lunde

The Match:  Cuskey/Neil vs. Haskins/Vern
Walk up Songs:
Cuskey/Neil:  Hank William Jr- Lawyers, Guns, and Money

Haskins/Vern:  Bob Seager- Like a Rock

Cuskey tries to keep Neil on the straight and narrow, but even the best dentist can’t get his cavity backs to fill up the scorecard with birdies.  I like the steady Windsormaker veterans in this one.
The Pick-  Haskins/Vern

The Match:  Nate/Hanson vs. Blake/Scoops
Walk up Songs:
Nate/Hanson:  Gordon Lightfoot- The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

Blake/Scoops:  John Anderson- Swingin

The duo from Duluth departs from the shores of Lake Superior with tons of hope and confidence only to have those dreams shipwrecked by Team G big swingin Captain and his big swigin sidekick!
The Pick-  Blake/Scoops

The Match:  Zach L/Heim vs. Korbel/Gauer
Walk up Songs:
Nate/Hanson:  Daniel Powter- Bad Day

Korbel/Gauer:  Taylor Swift- We are never ever getting back together

Korbel and Gauer are out for revenge after being spurned in the draft by Captain Zach.  Zach’s poor decisions will get him and Heim T Sizzled out of this matchup and lead to another bad day for his squad.
The Pick-  Korbel/Gauer

Well there you have it folks.  Looks like an opening morning lead for Team G.  We will see how it all goes down a week from Saturday!
