FIRST ROUND MATCH-UP BREAKDOWN

Only a few days until this year’s shit show begins.  Scouting reports have come back and it’s time to breakdown the first round match ups.

N Lehmann-Cuskey (Red) vs. Burnham-Hodges (White)
Vegas Line: Red -125
Interesting opening match up.  The red squad has to be favored after the performance from Cuskey last year.  Good counter by Captain Gabriel by putting his Fox Valley ringers against Nate, who will not have ammo to get inside their heads.  Have not heard much from the Hair Cut Mogul, so not sure where his game is at.
BVB’s Pick- Cuskey/Lehmann

Gabriel-Scoops (W) vs. The Nut-Korbel (R)
Vegas Line: White -115
Good match up on paper.  The number one overall picks going head to head.  Gabriel’s big stick could be the difference here.  Received some inside information that Korbel is playing good golf, but now that fishing season is here, he may not have picked up the clubs in a while.  I’m also guessing Top Dawg will be driving around doing burnouts in the parking lot trying to intimidate his competition.
BVB’s Pick- Gabriel/TOP DAWG

Z Lehmann-Hansen (R) vs. Malloy-Mivey (W)
Vegas Line: Red -140
Still not sure how Zach tricked Blake into letting himself be a 6th Round pick.  He is currently holding a zero handicap in Monday night league.  I am banking another good performance by Malloy in his sophomore campaign.  I also think Zach will be sad seeing his brofriend Mivey in another man’s cart.  I’m going with my heart on this pick.
 BVB’s Pick- UPSET SPECIAL  Malloy-Mivey

Heim-Schmidt (W) vs. Gauer-The Hawk (R)
Vegas Line: Unavailable
Heard rumblings of a T Schmidt bail out.  Hope this is untrue but tough to give this matchup to the Whites.  Gauer is looking to build on a solid rookie performance  and we know the Hawk will bring his slap shot swing and a box cigars.  I’m thinking the Hawk will show the Toe Curve around the 12th hole and Heim/Schmidt will be unable to focus.
 BVB’s Pick- Gauer/Hawk

Drunkstin-Schomberg (R) vs. Bwandon-Lunde (W)
Vegas Line: Red -110
The Battle of the Bromances.  This should be epic.  So many questions that I need answered.  Will Drunkstin go to bed on Friday?   Will he bring Schomberg down into his gutter?  Is Schomberg recovered from his blacked out ACL injury from last Friday?  Will Shomberg see a cart girl, fall in love and propose?  Will Dustin recover from his ankle injury when he tried to somersault out of our golf cart last Sunday?  Will Bwandon go to bed on Friday?  Is he able to shake off losing to myself last Saturday?  Will Lunde and himself take their shirts off at some point?  How many outfits is Lunde trying to decide between?  Did the White Shirt requirement get in his head?  Will he get so pissed at Drunkstin that he falls apart?  Way to much going on here, i’m going to call this a push and move to the next match up.  I will also set up an intervention on Hole 13.
 BVB’s Pick- Push

Lindstrom-Minnick (W) vs. S Olsen-T Sundeen(R)
Vegas Line: Red -125
Biggest question here is what Davey will show up.  Will Davey close down the Duck on Friday night and immediately start hammering Windsor Saturday morning?  Will he be a non-factor by the back nine?  The only guarantee in this match is there will be one Hawaiian shirt being worn.  I’m taking the Crafty Spooner Veterans in this match.
 BVB’s Pick- Olsen-Taylor

R Sundeen-Ja Duval (R)  vs. BVB-Buschy (W)
Vegas Line: Red -110
The battle of the bogeys!  Pretty even matchup here, Vegas has been changing the line all week.  I’m guessing Team Lehmann has been betting heavy on Red, swinging the line.  I would like to say Gray Busch and me will walk thru this match but I know what both of us are capable of.  We have done good things in Ryders cup past (other than last year) and I am banking us finding that magic again.  Regardless, I am guessing there will be high scores and high BAC’s across this foresome
 BVB’s Pick- BVB-Gray Busch

Pederson-Byers (W)  vs.  Vogel-Missine(R)
Vegas Line: Red -110
Breaking news out of this matchup.  Byers is probable with a upper body (Coop’s wedding weekend was rough on the whole group)  I’m guessing he blares some techno on the way to the course, rubs some antler spray on it, and chugs a Jameson scotch coffee that morning and will be fine.  Only problem is Big Game Big E is a proven Ryder Cup warrior.  He may have single handily won it for Team Gabriel last year.  Scotty V and Pederson are both wildcards in this matchup.  I’m thinking E starts talking about vaginas and minorities and throws off the Whites.
 BVB’s Pick- Vogel-Missine

Vogt-Je Duval (R)  vs. Johnson-William Vogel  (W)
Vegas Line: Pick-um
Got to love Nick Vogt’s effort flying in from Arizona to make the match.  This is set to be another high drinking match-up.  William may end up making snow angels in a bunker at some point.  Jake Johnson is renowned for sinking clutch Ryder Cup putts, and this year should be no different
 BVB’s Pick- Johnson-Vogel

Stumpf-Butt Love (W) vs. Strum-Femlee (R)
Vegas Line: White -130
Nobody has been following the blog as hard as Butt Love, so you know he is ready for this matchup.  Femlee is looking to make some noise in his second cup appearance.  I’m thinking Butt Loves leadership around the greens and cart girls will be the difference.
 BVB’s Pick- Stumpf-Butt Love

Looks like it will be 5 ½ White, to 4 ½ Red going into the second 18.  Even if I am off a match up or two, we all know it will come down to the second 18.  Who will be able to hold there booze and scramble their way to glory?  The best day of the year is only a few days away.

As a self-proclaimed co-captain of Team Gabriel, I am confident the Whites will figure a way to conquer on Saturday.  Due to the draft rules changes this year to tip the scales towards The Reds, we will have a upward battle.  This will be the most satisfying victory in Team Gabriel history.  I was called out in the draft after my disappointing showing last year, but this year will be different I am out for vengeance.  Get your drinking shoes ready boys!

WHITE POWER!

  4. My knee is stronger than ever and that little exercise Drunkstin and I had last Friday was all part of a rigorous training schedule I've been undertaking in preparation for this weekend. Friday's focus was on shot visualization (Golden Tee) and alcohol tolerance (attempting to go drink for drink with drunkstin). Break the body down (to the point where you fall over after a brilliant golden tee approach shot)then build it back even stronger, it's all coming together!

    Good stuff Bryce
